Illegal immigration remains a critical problem, especially in Southern California, and Congressman Dreier remains committed to confronting it. Dreier has a longstanding record of fighting illegal immigration and bringing resources back to California from Washington for the effort. • Congressman Dreier voted to increase the level of funding for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP), which reimburses states and localities for the incarceration of criminal illegal immigrants, to $400 million.
• Congressman Dreier authored H.R. 98, the Illegal Immigration Enforcement and Social Security Protection Act, which improves the security of Social Security cards and cracks down on employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
• Congressman Dreier is opposed to amnesty. In fact, he voted against the infamous 1986 amnesty bill.
• Congressman Dreier is a co-sponsor of H.R. 997, the English Language Unity Act, which makes English the official language of the United States.
