With our economy in an undisputed slowdown, families across Southern California are facing tough decisions. Gas prices, food costs, the loss of a home or job – these are all challenges confronting working families. Congressman Dreier is committed to getting our economy back on track by keeping taxes low, providing incentives for savings and investment, and helping willing workers find willing employers. He has also supported a responsible extension of unemployment insurance which is critical to helping families make it through tough times. • Congressman Dreier voted against an irresponsible budget plan that would raise taxes on working families in California and failed to address long term entitlement spending needs.
• Recently, Congressman Dreier voted for an expansion of unemployment benefits for those who are most in need.
• Congressman Dreier also supported the Tax Increase Prevention Act which included provided Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) relief for 23 million Americans without raising taxes.
• Congressman Dreier has introduced the Fair and Simple Tax (FAST) Act which simplifies the tax code by creating a one-page tax form, eliminating the Death Tax and fixing the Alternative Minimum Tax.
• Each April, Congressman Dreier hosts the “Road to Employment” job fair which allows job seekers meet with potential employers in the Foothill Communities. This year over 800 people had the opportunity to meet with 60 potential employers.
