DREIER RECEIVES TAXPAYER HERO AWARD

Congressman Dreier has once again been recognized for his commitment to reducing the tax burden for working families and small businesses.  The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) has awarded Congressman Dreier with their Taxpayer Hero Award for the second session of the 110th Congress.  “Rep. Dreier put the interests of taxpayers ahead of politics by consistently voting to cut wasteful spending, reduce the tax burden, and make government more accountable to taxpayers,” said CCAGW President Tom Schatz.  Out-of-control spending reigned over Capitol Hill, leading to a record $1.6 trillion deficit in fiscal year 2009, and an $11.8 trillion national debt.  Rep. Dreier’s votes give taxpayers hope for the future.”  Dreier was among those who voted repeatedly against wasteful spending and dramatic expansions of government.  He said the run-away spending occurring in Washington will only hurt small businesses and working families.  “The more Washington spends, the more they’re going to expect from working families and small businesses,” Dreier said.  “People are struggling in the current economy.  The last thing they need is an increased tax burden to foot the bill for Washington spending.  I will continue to fight against waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and to reduce taxes so that we can get our economy growing again.”
