INLAND VALLEY DAILY BULLETIN ENDORSES DREIER

Retain Dreier
10/19/2008

Rep. David Dreier has long been a strong advocate on issues that are important to his 26th Congressional District and the rest of this region. That’s why we advise voters to send the veteran Republican congressman back to Washington for another term.

Dreier, the longest-serving Congress member in our area, has been in the fore of efforts to get the Gold Line light-rail system extended east from Pasadena to San Bernardino County and for federal funding for Alameda Corridor East projects; to clean up groundwater in Los Angeles County, and to promote water recycling projects in the Inland Valley.

He saved Gold Line proponents from self-destructing when internal bickering threatened to defuse their influence; Dreier called feuding officials together and made them see that they needed to stay on the same page if they were to succeed.

Dreier has been for many years a force for local water recycling and cleanup efforts, which become more obviously crucial to Southern Californians with each passing day.

He is a conservative Republican, but works well with Democrats on key Southern California issues - with Reps. Adam Schiff and Grace Napolitano on the Gold Line, for instance, and with Sen. Dianne Feinstein on a bill to criminalize building unauthorized tunnels under the U.S. border.

Dreier and Schiff introduced the Peace Officer Justice Act and Dreier presented arguments to the Mexican supreme court to get L.A. County sheriff’s Deputy David March’s killer extradited to the United States…we advise voters to re-elect Rep. David Dreier on the Nov. 4 ballot.
