DREIER HONORED BY US ENGLISH

Congressman Dreier was recently honored for his votes in support of English as the official language.  The citizens’ action organization US English gave Congressman Dreier an A for his votes to “uphold the unifying bond of the English language in our diverse nation.”  Dreier said he sponsored the English Language Unity Act, H.R. 997, because he believes in promoting English as a means of connecting people in a workplace, in our voting system, and in our communities.  “Ronald Reagan used to say that if you moved to France, you don’t become French.  And if you move to Japan, you don’t become Japanese.  Only in this country can you move here, become a citizen and become an American.  This is a unique country that brings people from all different cultures and countries together.  The English language is a key part of our national identity, and it is something that must be honored, respected and upheld.”  To see the legislation Congressman Dreier supported in order to earn his A, please visit - http://www.us-english.org/view/333?state=CA
